Abstract

The article describes a multivariate analysis, participation, and structure (MAPS) route to improve organizational design towards the development of purposeful subsystems along with a technology for achieving the design objectives. Both the design objective and the technology are compatible with the values and objectives of popular Organization Development methods. The use of multivariate analyses, high-speed computers, and participation by all relevant organizational members makes this method both practical and supportive of organization development philosophies and procedures.
