Abstract
This article focuses on the role of women in international management. The increasing importance of international business activity is inescapable to the observer of contemporary economic events. The proportion of total North American business which is international is steadily rising. Traditionally, international managers have been men. Even with the marked increases over the last decade in women holding domestic management positions in North America, few women have become international managers, and even fewer have actually been assigned to positions in foreign countries. A little is known about the few women who have held international management positions. According to one survey, women have better opportunities to work abroad if associated with large corporations that are financially strong and have considerable sales volume overseas. However it is found that less than three percent of international managers Are Women. Twenty percent of the surveyed companies had sent a woman overseas in expatriate status.
