Abstract

At the 1985 Annual Meeting of the Social Issues Division of the Academy of Management, two papers were presented that offered markedly different views regarding the future of research and teaching in this area. Each engendered considerable controversy and discussion. Because the issues they raise are important not only to the academic but to the business community as well, CMS invited both authors to submit revised versions of their papers along with a brief rebuttal of the other's arguments.
