The article focuses on the replacement of traditional fixed-hour systems with the flexible-working-hour scheme, a process of sharing control of working time with workers through arrangements. The critical element of the scheme is the choice an employee is allowed to make as to when he works and for how long a time he works. The flexible-hour system is a widely accepted, easily administered and arrangement that can help organizations to acquire the values, attitudes, behavior, and habits that build the trust necessary to support attempts to extend the quantity and quality of participation at work. Employees on flexible working hours overwhelmingly report increased personal satisfaction based on their ability to balance demands of their personal lives with demands of the organization.
