Book Review: Through the Employee Ownership Maze by Will Mitchell & Judith Kenner Thompson. Over the last fifteen years, the number of employee-owned firms in the U.S. has grown rapidly. With a wide range of percentage ownership, an even more diverse set of participation programs has been instituted in such companies. The effects of the resulting combinations are an issue of keen academic and practical interest. Using an ownership-control matrix as a conceptual framework, this article discusses the research reported in five recent books on employee ownership.
