The article describes a research project to measure the job success of a special group job-seeking ex-offenders. The results of the research suggest that the employment problems of ex-offenders offer industry a unique opportunity to combine social and economic drives in such a way as to enhance the value of each. However, the investigation represents only a preliminary step in verifying the extent of the job effectiveness of ex-offenders. The study compares employees of varying skill levels, investigates the attitudes of employers whose experiences with ex-offenders have been unfavorable, and recommends a number of management support activities which are designed to increase the ex-offender's probability of success on the job.
