Abstract

Presents a case study on the uncritical acceptance of the four days forty hours work week pattern by the management of certain U.S. firms. Disadvantages of the pattern on the key issues of morale, productivity and fatigue of the workers; Suggestion of flexi-time, optimum workforce mix and job enrichment as alternatives to increase the morale and productivity of the employees.
